DIRECTIONS:
      The USC campus is located near the downtown LA,
      bounded by Jefferson Blvd (north), Figueroa Street(east),
      Exposition Blvd (south) and Vermont Ave (west). Hoffman Hall is
      located right near the Exposition Blvd, on the south edge of campus.
      Both I-10 and I-110 provide convenient access to the campus. If you are
      coming by I-10, take Vermont exit, go south on Vermont, turn  left
      (east) on Exposition Blvd. Drive for about 300 yards (the campus will
      be to the left of you). Park on the street. If you are coming by I-110
      (Harbor freeway) take Exposition Blvd exit and go west on Exposition.
      Cross Figueroa street and drive for about 200 yards. Campus is to the
      right of you. Park on the street.
PARKING:
      Plenty of meter parking on Exposition Blvd. Meters are free starting at
      6 pm.

October 11. Veronika Dolina, one of the finest lyricists and bards now active, will sing her own songs on UCSD campus Friday October 11, 1996 at 7 p.m. at Visual Arts Performance Space. Admission: $10 (undergraduates: $7; chldren under 13: $1).

October 22. Dmitry Mezhevich and Viktoria Medvedeva are on US tour now. Mezhevich is an actor of the Moscow Taganka Theater who worked for a long time with Yury Lyubimov and Vladimir Vysotsky. He was a personal friend of the late poet Alexander Galich, and wrote music to his famous song "Uezzhaete - uezzhaite".

As a songwriter, Mezhevich wrote music to poetry of the Silver Age (1900-1920). His repertoire with Medvedeva also includes songs of Vertinsky, Vysotsky, Galich and Bernes. Mezhevich maintains a close contact with the audience and is known as an excellent storyteller.

Mezhevich and Medvedeva are among the last Russian performers who are proficient seven-stringed guitarists. See his and her video clips courtesy of Dmitry Beransky.

November 25. Russian Bards. Vladimir Turiyansky from Moscow sings at the UCSD Visual Arts Performance Space. Turiyansky, who is a poet and field geologist, is known since mid-60's. He wrote such hits of student and tourist folklore as "Montana", "Pitekantrops", "Geophysical Tango", "Who can tell why we ran from our warm city homes", and many other songs.
