Russian Song Festival in Hayward, CA
Russian Author Song Festival organized by San Francisco Bay Area club "Poluostrov" will be held in the vicinity of Hayward, CA, 25-27 July 1997. The festival is devoted to the memory of two greatest Russian singing poets, Vladimir Vysotsky and recently deceased Bulat Okudzhava. Directions: Take Freeway 880 North at Fremont. Exit at Hayward to freeway 238 (East). Exit at Redwood Road, under the freeway, and left. Follow Redwood Road to the north as it enters Antony Chabot Regional Park. You will see a golf course on your left. From that point, drive approximately 5 miles (20 minutes) as the Redwood road comes through the mountains and forest. There will be no other roads or exits in either direction until you reach a big wooden board, and a ground road on you left. Turn left; you are at the Marciel Gate, from which you follow by Marciel Road (which is covered with asphalt after Marciel Gate) some 1.5 miles downhill. As you reach Hawk Ridge Group Camp, stop at the schlagbaum. You will get further directions as to how to reach the camp site which is 1.5 mi. beyound the checkpoint (unless you are coming later than 10 p.m.) and where to park. Camp site is reserved by Isaak Tarasov since Friday July 25, 12 AM, till Sunday July 27, 12 AM. Participation fee is $6 per person. Bay Area Festival usually attracts several hundred participants from San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego and other exotic places.
