Russian bards Ivashchenko and Vasiliev from Moscow will sing at the Visual Arts Performance Space on UCSD campus on Thursday December 5, 1997, at 7 p.m. Ivashchenko and Vasiliev ("Ivasi") write humorous poetry and play 12-stringed acoustic guitars. They were in high acclaim since early 80's, soon after they graduated from Moscow State University. Both of Ivasi were actively involved in recent changes in Russia. Vasiliev worked as an economics secretary of Moscow government, and is currently a head of a largest cellular phone company in Moscow. Ivashchenko works with translation of American movies. Both singers speak fluent English. They are widely known for dynamic, spectacular performing style.
